David began his career as Swing and County Western instructor and then moved into Ballroom Dancing. He joined Arthur Murray Dance Studios and climbed the ranks as a teacher. David twice was the winner of the regional Arthur Murray All-Stars and took second place at the National All-Stars Championship in Orlando, Florida. This was an important milestone in David's career as it ranked  him at the top as an Arthur Murray Instructor Nationwide.

Marie has also received her training through the Arthur Murray dance system and together, David and Marie have entered many competitions, placing in the top three in the state of California, Together, they have 30 yrs experience as professional dance instructors, teaching hundreds of people the joy of dance!

They bring experience, knowledge, and using humor, much fun to the students that take instruction with them.

Kings Ballroom and Dance Studio!" boasts the largest dance floor in Santa Barbara County, featuring several professional and dedicated, instructors. The Kings offer classes in American Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep as   well as the popular Latin dances of Salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba, merengue, Cumbia, Samba plus Country Western and other specialty dances as Nightclub 2-Step, Hustle, Foxy and more. If  Swing is your preference, different styles of East Coast, West Coast, and Jitterbug will also be on the venue! We also offer specialty class in Jazzercise, yoga, Hawaiian hula, & Polynesian dancing for exercise. ”Weekly practice parties and social dances give you a chance to practice your skills and meet other dancers in a safe and friendly environment.

Our Instructors

Jeannette & Henry Bergeron began their teaching career in 1983, teaching Country Western couples and line dancing in Los Angeles.  Her venues include professional instructing at private dance studios, various City Parks and Recreation departments and for Festival Country Dances. Jeannette has performed with several dance groups and at the L.A. County Fair, Pomona, California. She has also won top competitions in Las Vegas, NV 

 

Since moving to Santa Maria, they have been teaching Line dance and Couples dances, such as, country two step, cha cha, waltz, ten step, and schottische. Jeannette and Henry are well known and respected in the Santa Maria Valley and specialize in teaching beginning students and grooming them into great social Country Western Dancers.  Their friendly and easy way of teaching is a great addition to our staff at the Kings Ballroom and Dance Studio.

Marilyn Mercado graduated from the University of Hawaii. After completion of her degree, she was offered a job to take over the popular Social Dance class at the Dept. of Health and Physical Education at the University teaching Ballroom and Latin Dancing to all the college students. She taught there for over 12 years before moving to California.
She is an accomplished instructor. She’s a dancer, choreographer, and coordinator of dance showcases. She trained with professional Ballroom dancers.

and produced numerous dance showcases at the University of Hawaii. She has choreographed dances and trained selected dance students for a dance competition. In addition, Marilyn has edited and finished five instructional dance videos of her own.
After relocating from Hawaii to the central coast she have put together her own hula dance group and have performed numerous hula dance shows all over the central coast. She teaches Ballroom and Latin dances, hula dances for kids and adult, yoga for kids and adult, and a unique energetic salsacize fitness class.

Ricardo was born in Puerto Rico and he has been dancing for 20 years. His best dances are Salsa, Cha-cha, Merengue, and other Latin Dances. Ricardo met Marilyn at the Univ. of Hawaii and became her dance partner for dance showcases. He has trained with a former 10 Dance Champion Wally Frey when he was in Oahu, Hawaii. He is passionate and energetic and loves to share this passion about dancing with the community.
